'Agriculture revolution needed for economic, social transformation'

Kathmandu, April 5: Former Prime Minister and senior leader of the CPN (Unified Socialist), Jhalanath Khanal, has said that land reforms should be done in the country along with the programmes of agriculture revolution for the nation's economic and social transformation.     

At a programme organized by Kindle Kids Academy here Saturday, the former PM said that modernization in agriculture should be carried out for land reforms to make country self-reliant on agriculture.     

He added that the government should ensure markets for the agricultural productions even by bridging the markets from the local to the international levels.     

On the occasion, leader Khanal admitted that the leftist parties failed to meet the people's expectations for social and economic development in the country despite they got responsibilities and opportunities to fulfill the people's aspirations after the promulgation of the new constitution.(RSS)
