Govt should take risk to improve national economy: Thapa

Kathmandu, April 5: Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has said the government should take up risks for the enhancement of national economy.     

Speaking at the 'Ncell Bahrakhari Golf and Economic Symposium' organised by Bahrakhari Media Pvt. Ltd. here today, he said the economy could be improved if the government was able to enhance trust among private investors.     

Former Minister Thapa, also a federal lawmaker, stressed that only open and transparent discussions in every field could find a meaningful solution to the problem.     

Stating that the government was trying to carry out crucial works for the improvement of national economy, he said the private sector and the citizens should have faith in the government's plans for economic reforms.     

Leader Thapa stressed the need to work in the infrastructure sectors along with IT, software and programming.     

The government should facilitate those trying to do something within the country, he said, adding that the government leadership should take planned initiatives for the same.     

He emphasized on the need for coordination and discussion with the concerned bodies on how to address the tax system through policy measures.     

On another note, leader Thapa said that the governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank should be appointed from among qualified and competent economists.(RSS)
