Rabi Lamichhane brought to Bhairahawa

By Laxman Paudel, Bhairahawa, Apr.5: President of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, who was arrested in Kathmandu following the verdict of the Butwal Bench of High Court, Tulasipur, has been brought to Bhairahawa.

Lamichhane, who was arrested on Friday night, was brought to Bhairahawa by plane on Saturday morning. 

According to the Rupandehi District Police Office, he was brought to Bhairahawa by a Yeti Airlines plane.

Lamichhane was taken to the District Police Office upon landing at Bhairahawa Airport. 

The Butwal Bench of High Court, Tulasipur had ordered the arrest of RSP President Lamichhane on Friday, who is facing charges of misappropriation of funds of cooperatives.

Lamichhane was apprehended by police from his residence in Budhanilkantha on Friday. 

he Rupandehi District Court had demanded a bail of Rs 10 million from him in the Supreme Cooperative case in Butwal.

The higher court has ordered to send him to prison, reversing the district court's order.

 Lamichhane will be kept in the custody of the Rupandehi police. 

He will be kept at the district police station on Saturday and Sunday and will be sent to prison only after completing the process after the office opens on Monday, the police said.

Earlier today, the Butwal Bench comprising judges Ramesh Dhakal and Swikriti Parajuli ordered for remanding Lamichhane to police custody for investigation into his alleged involvement in the fraud of cooperative funds.
