'Ill-intention of spreading frustration towards Constitution and systems'

Kathmandu, April 4: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak claimed that the former King's supporters had undertaken the violent incident in Tinkune, Kathmandu with ill-intention of spreading frustration towards the Constitution and the systems.     

At a meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives (HoR) today, he assured of fair investigation into the violent incident held in Tinkune.     

The Home Minister expressed the commitment to remain further active to guarantee security among the citizens by bringing the anti-constitutional and anti-system anarchic activities into legal ambit in the coming days.     

He also pledged to put further coordinated efforts to enable environment for the citizens to consume their democratic rights.     

"It cannot be presumed that the incident of vandalism, destruction and attack carried out in a way to undermine the constitutionally guaranteed right to peaceful assembly was motivated by any political philosophy or ideology, the home minster noted.     

He expressed the commitment to not allow such irresponsible, anarchic and arrogant activities in the days to come.     

He also urged the general public not to indulge in such anarchic activities.     

Media is the first target of those trying to dismantle democratic systems, he asserted, noting that the government would put in place security arrangements for the media houses and media workers.     

According to Minster Lekhak, the Minister Lekhak informed that 148 people, including lawmaker Dhawal Shumsher Rana, have been taken into custody for their involvement in criminal activities.     

Among the arrested, 66 are being investigated with the permission of the district court while other remaining have been handed over to their families and relatives.(RSS)
