Monarchy not an option for republic system: NC General Secretary

Damak (Jhapa), April 4: Nepali Congress General Secretary Bishow Prakash Sharma has said that monarchy cannot be an option for the democratic republic system.     

At a programme organized by the NC Province Assembly Regional Working Committee of constituency 4 (A) in Jhapa on Friday, General Secretary Sharma expressed that the unruly activities against the republic system were inappropriate for the nation and its people.     

Arguing that the monarchy suppressed women, who make up half of the population, on various pretexts, Sharma stated that attempts to restore the monarchy in the country were merely talks.     

Despite the challenges in the path to institutionalizing the republic, all sides should work earnestly by accepting them as opportunities, the NC General Secretary viewed.(RSS)
