SC demands government's written response on NEA Executive Director Shakya's application

Kathmandu, March 28: The Supreme Court (SC) has demanded government's response in writing to the writ petition registered by Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Hitendra Dev Shakya. 

A single bench of Justice Abdul Aziz Musalman on Friday demanded written response and directed to summon for discussion on the matter whether or not to issues an interim order. 

"Why should the order not be issued as demanded by the petitioner? If there is any basis, reason and evidence that there is no need to issue the order as demanded, submit a reply in writing with evidence through the Office of the Attorney General within 15 days", reads the order. 

The hearing of the petition, according to the order, should be submitted as per the rules by giving priority to the hearing and the documentary evidence related to the present dispute should be brought through the Attorney General's office on the day of discussion.

The apex court has ordered the government to bring documentary evidences related to the present dispute through the Attorney General's Office on the day of discussion. 

Noting that the tenure of four years fixed by the Council of Ministers under his service conditions has been determined from 11 February 2021 to 10 February 2025, the writ petition has demanded not to put forward further process until its judicial dispensation. 

According to the petition, Shakya was removed from the post of executive director of NEA through an e-mail on 1 August 2021 and appointed to the post of energy expert member of the Water and Energy Commission. (RSS)
