Siraha, March 28: The Nepal Police submitted its investigation report to the District Office of the Government Attorney regarding house demolition of a 'Dalit' family at Aurahi Rural Municipality-5 in Siraha district.
The house of Dipak Malik of Aurahi Rural
Municipality-5 in Siraha district was demolished in the name of performing a
Mahayagya.
The police submitted the report on
Thursday by completing its investigation on caste-based discrimination and
untouchability offences in six days.
The investigation report was
received and officials are going through the report, the District Government
Attorney Rajendra Basnet confirmed.
He said that cases would be lodged
in the court after the study of the report.
The house of Malik (Dom) was demolished
for the Bishnu Mahayagya (a religious programme) to be started on March 30,
due to which the victim's family has been displaced.
Different organizations have
strongly deplored this incident which blatantly reflects caste
discrimination.
According to media reports, one
Bajrangi Baba, who is conducting the Mahayagya, has taken a stand that the
Mahayagya rituals cannot take place if the Dalit family stays there at the site
of the Mahayagya, after which Malik's house was demolished in connivance with
Rural Municipality Chairman Shivaji Yadav and former ward chair Dilip Yadav.
The incident took place on February 22. (RSS)
