Minister Gurung says RSS should be effective sources to all media

Kathmandu, Feb 19: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has underscored the need for presenting the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) as a more powerful and effective resource in the present time.    

Conveying his best wishes on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of the RSS, he said the institution, which has been serving as the only state-run news agency in the country, should emerge as a powerful and effective source of news content to the media.    

Minister Gurung said, "RSS has made a record in history by running a media museum, it has done a commendable job by running 24-hour news services in different mother tongues, I want to assure the necessary support and coordination from the federal government to develop RSS as an effective media partner in compliance with the government's policies and directives."   

 
Minister Gurung opined that the RSS should be self-reliant by extending its customers and mobilizing its own properties.    
RSS' role commendable: Secretary Aryal    

Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Radhika Aryal, has said that the role of RSS, the National News Agency, is commendable in ensuring the public's right to be informed by disseminating reliable, balanced and authoritative news.   

 
Extending best wishes on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of RSS, Secretary Aryal said, "The National News Agency should be more active and dedicated in connecting every level and section of the State and society."  (RSS)
