RSS service diversification praiseworthy: President

Kathmandu, Feb 19: President Ramchandra Paudel has applauded the RSS' latest efforts to diversify its services.   

 
In his message of best wishes to the RSS entire family, its clients and well-wishers on the occasion of the RSS 64th anniversary today, the Head of State highlighted the increased presence of the RSS amidst the necessity to disseminate credible, fact-based, reliable and authentic news contents and promoting the citizens' right to information.    


 The disseminations of the RSS news bulletins in additional Awadhi, Maithili and Newari languages besides Nepali, English, photo and visual services, publications of various books, the establishment of the Media Medium and the 24-hour news services are commendable.    


As he said, the possibilities for the institutionalization of freedom of expression and impartial and independent journalism remain only in multi-party democracy. He added that after historic political transformations in the country, economic prosperity and development remain as its major agenda.    


Stating that citizens from the grass root level and mar


ginalised communities have now unhindered access to means of mass communication with the IT innovations, the President said the role of media is significant in straightening the area of journalism.    
RSS should amplify voices of citizens: Vice President    


Similarly, in his greetings on the occasion of the RSS Day today, Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav has stressed that RSS should focus on amplifying the voices of citizens who remain unheard and promoting and documenting the cultures and languages of diversified society.    


He said the RSS further role is expected in disseminating credible news contents and strengthening the freedom of expression. He also hoped for the RSS contribution to finding solutions to existing challenges in the country through its services.    


"RSS should prove its leading role in the exchange of various perspectives and thoughts, making its services more accessible to citizens by covering international incidents and developments in its services," he said.    


"The RSS contents have contributed to making citizens aware on various issues and rightly educating them," he said, advising the RSS to prioritise investigative journalism, internalize its civic responsibility and remain politically non-aligned. He further stressed the need for the RSS to further enhance its presence and role in the changing context.  (RSS)
