Snowfall, Feb.17: Heavy snowfall has been witnessed in the northern Gorkha again.
According to the local Nima Lama, the snowfall that fell on Sunday night has been the heaviest of all since the onset of the winter season of this year.
He said, "The snowfall of last occurred after a long dryness. There was a light snowfall two days ago but last night's snowfall is the heaviest snowfall of this season."
According to Lama, snowfall has occurred from Samdo Village down to Samagaun and Shyala Village in the northernmost part of North Gorkha, known as Nubri Valley.
There has been a persistent snowfall that occurred on Sunday midnight. There is around one foot of snowfall in Sambdo village.
Life of the locals of Nubri Valley, Sama Village, and Shyala Village have been affected due to heavy snowfall.
He said, "There is a disruption of telephone and internet run by solar power. It looks like the service will be disrupted till snowfall stops."
Guide Surya Khanal said that domestic and foreign tourists who reached the area on Saturday evening faced trouble due to the snowfall. "It is not possible to go Manaslu Circuit Larke Pass Trek with the tourists. We are staying in a hotel located at Samdo with the tourists."
Meanwhile, the locals have been elated with the onset of snowfall after a long time in line with good crops. (Translated from RSS)
