Chitwan, Feb 4: Three rhinos have been shifted to the eastern sector from the western sector of Chitwan National Park (CNP). They were relocated on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
The animals were released in the
Khagendramalli area of the eastern sector. Among them, two are females aged 15
and 16, respectively, and the third is a male of around 18 years of age,
according to CNP information officer Abinash Thapa Magar.
The rhinos were darted for
relocations. This year, the CNP has planned to relocate four rhinos internally
and last year this figure was six.
Earlier, a study team advised the
CNP to carry out an internal shifting of 10 rhinos from the western sector. A
team of technicians will be bringing one more male rhino to the eastern sector
in the near future. (RSS)
