Education policy needs change: Minister Gurung

Bhaktapur, Jan 26: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said present education policy needs immediate change.     

Inaugurating the Sports Meet-2025 organized by the SOS School here Sunday, Minister Gurung underlined the need for changing education policy to make it employment oriented.     

"Country witnessed change in system and politics but education policy did not. The Education Policy of 2028BS is still existing, which, however, fails to provide guideline to meet present needs," he reminded, stressing that the education that caters adequate skills is urgent need.     

The Minister also informed that the Cabinet had endorsed the amendment of Education Act to table in the parliament for deliberation.     

According to him, inclusive and quality education caters the needs of modern generation and competes with others.     

Nepal should also embrace the technological development like artificial intelligence (AI). AI can be leveraged in different sectors like education, health and agriculture, according to Minister. The present day students can earn a lot with the use of IT.(RSS)
