Kathmandu, Jan. 17: The Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party Working Committee, on Thursday, made several important decisions regarding the party’s role in the government and its legislative responsibilities.

The meeting, which took place at the residence of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, stressed the need for ministers to regularly engage in discussions on key issues to ensure the government's effectiveness. The committee advised the party members in parliamentary committees to work on finalizing bills which are currently under consideration.

The ministers were urged to ensure that ongoing physical projects and programmes under their ministries are completed on time, while also prioritising the completion of development plans in the current fiscal year that are still pending due to issues like unapproved funding or stalled construction. Committee members instructed the ministers to hold meetings with cadres and citizens twice a week, offering them opportunities to voice complaints and put forth suggestions.

To strengthen coordination with party members, the ministers also decided to visit the party's central office once a month to address concerns received through the party’s various regional and local committees.

Meanwhile, Dilendra Prasad Badu was selected as the coordinator for the formation of the Disciplinary Committee, as per the party’s parliamentary statute.

Furthermore, the committee approved the appointment of Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, Sanjay Kumar Gautam, and Chanda Chaudhary as coordinators for the Finance Committee, Public Accounts Committee, and Agriculture, Cooperatives, and Natural Resources Committee, respectively, under the House of Representatives. The meeting also urged the government to take strict action against those responsible for attacking senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, condemning the act.

The decisions reflect the party’s commitment to strengthening its legislative function and addressing citizens’ concerns while ensuring effective governance.
