Kaski, Jan 16: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has urged the tourism fraternities and local communities to develop more infrastructures with the rise in the number of visitors.
Inaugurating the Maghe Sankranti Mela and 30th anniversary of Sikles Youth Club in Sikles village of Madi Rural Municipality in Kaski district on Thursday, Minister Gurung said that the Gandaki Province should pay much attention for the proper utilization of natural resources adding that this province could make significant contributions to the country's development if it worked by setting its targets.
Arguing that half of the tourists arriving Nepal visit the Gandaki Province, Minister Gurung praised the Sikles Mela as such activities contribute to the development of tourism there and asked the local communities to demonstrate their unique cultures and customs in a well-managed way.
On the occasion, Minister Gurung promised to take initiatives to blacktop roads to Sikles from Pokhara.
He also said that telephone service would be made available there by the end of this fiscal year as the government has planned to ensure internet connectivity to every household across the country.
Minister Gurung viewed that trekking route to Manang district through Sikles as well as other routes could be explored with the collaboration between the local residents and tourism entrepreneurs. (RSS)
