Manang, Jan 11: Base camp of Tilicho Lake and Thorangla Bhanjyang of Manang district have been connected with national grid.
Power is being supplied by installing 50-KVA distribution transformer at the base camp, located at 4,250 meter height in Khangsar of Manang Ngisyang rural municipality-9, shared Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Kul Man Ghising.
Chairperson of Ngisyang rural municipality-9, Chyolpa Gurung, said, "It has been easier to trekkers heading towards Tilicho Lake from the base camp and locals with the expansion of electricity facility. The consumption of power has increased and we have been using electricity for various household purposes."
The base camp of Tilicho Lake is connected with national grid under the NEA's campaign of illuminating religious and tourism site, according to NEA.
NEA has been operating 45-KW Chame Small Hydropower and 80-KW Manang Small Hydropower Centre to supply power in Manang district. Chief of NEA Manang Distribution Centre, Raju Mahato, said electricity was supplied in Manang from small hydropower centres at a time when power supply from nation grid was disrupted. (RSS)
