Thaha Film Festival from January 12

Our Correspondent,Makawanpur, Jan. 10 :Preparations for a three-day Thaha Film Festival 2025, which will begin on January 12 in Bajrabarahi, Thaha Nagar, Makawanpur, are in the final stages.

With the aim of promoting tourism in Thaha through cinema, Thaha Kala Kendra, Makawanpur, is organising the 2nd edition of the Thaha Film Festival, which will run from January 12 to January 14.

The festival organised with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Bagmati Province, films, short films, and portraits will be exhibited at the Bajrabarahi Hall located in Ward No.6 of Thaha Municipality, said  Pramod Krishna Joshi, the coordinator of the Thaha Film Festival. 

He said that  21 entries, including films, short films, and documentaries, have been selected for the exhibition at the festival.

 The organisers have said that 47 proposals were received for consideration. Arrangements have been made to allow viewers to watch films, short films and documentaries free of charge. Thaha Kala Kendra, Makawanpur Chairman Sanobabu Muktan, informed that the film festival aims to help develop Thaha Nagar and Indrasarobar Rural Municipality as a mini film city. 

According to him, documentaries made to promote tourism in Thaha Nagar, as well as movies shot in Thaha Nagar, will be screened at the festival.

He also added that the festival includes film seminars, orientation training on developing Thaha Nagar as a mini film city, and film reviews. Chairman Muktan further shared that there is a plan to honour the cinema teams that have shot movies in Thaha Nagar.

Similarly, movies such as Modibeni, Satidevi, Lakhey, Pakheta, Bato, and Tulki will be screened.
