Central Committee meeting of CPN (MC) concludes

blog

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 8: The 6th plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the CPN

(Maoist Centre) concluded here on Tuesday by unanimously endorsing the political report presented by party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

The meeting endorsed the political proposal titled ‘Resolution for Party Transformation and Reorganisation: The Historic Necessity of Today’, with amendments.

A total of 118 office bearers and central members provided suggestions on the proposal.

Addressing the final session of the three-day meeting, party chairman Prachanda termed the sixth

plenary meeting as a historic and far-reaching event.

Stating that the meeting has ensured uniformity in ideology, planning, and sentiments within the party, Prachanda said that it had laid the foundation for victory by steering the party back towards its class and community base.

He clarified that the implementation of the meeting’s decisions would

serve as a milestone for the socialist revolution, breaking previous continuities.

In another context, Prachanda said that the simultaneous meetings of the CPN (MC) and UML had provided an opportunity for evaluation on a national and global scale.

“The public now has an opportunity to compare which party--the CPN (Maoist Centre) or UML-- advocates good governance, social justice, and prosperity, and which upholds internal democracy or leans towards authoritarianism,” he said.

He further added, “While UML started its meeting by taking action and expelling members for raising critical issues, we conducted consultations across the country, practising a high level of  democracy within the party through extensive discussions.”

He added, “These meetings have further established UML as a bourgeois capitalist party and the CPN (MC) as an ideologically committed socialist revolutionary communist party.”

Chairperson Prachanda also announced plans to reach out extensively to the people through campaigns, eventually culminating in a national convention.

He clarified that former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun was invited to the meeting not because the party made him politically active, but because he expressed a desire to participate.

He added that responsibilities would be assigned to him along with other leaders during the task allocation process.

Meanwhile, the meeting decided to conduct a six-month-long campaign, followed by preparations for a general convention over the next six months.

Prachanda announced that the current central committee would be converted into a general convention organising committee during a meeting to be held in Asar (mid-June).

He explained that the six-month campaign would also serve as preparation for the convention, as it would garner extensive public feedback.

Preparations for the campaign will take place from mid-January to mid-February, and the campaign will begin on February 13, coinciding with the ‘People’s War’ anniversary.

Activities will be carried out along the Postal Highway and East-West Highway, with another phase of the campaign planned for the mid-hill highway throughout mid-April to mid-May, focusing on the Himalayan and mid-hill regions.

The meeting approved a proposal ensuring all leaders would receive responsibilities, with plans to finalise the task allocation within a week and circulate it by the first week of Magh month.
