By Our Correspondent,Dharan, Jan. 4: Dharan Festival is all set to be celebrated for five days from Saturday on the occasion of the 124th anniversary of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City.
Organising a press conference held at the office of the Sub-Metropolitan City, Mayor Harka Raj Rai announced that the festival would be held at the open ground south of the stadium in Dharan-16, featuring various programmes.
The Sub-Metropolitan City celebrates (Poush 20) January 4 as Dharan Day every year.
Executive member and publicity committee coordinator Dinesh Gajmer said that the festival would include cultural, sports, entertainment, literary, and musical programmes over the five days.
Mayor Rai said that entry to the festival would be free as in the past, and priority would be given to showcasing and selling local and domestic products.
The festival will begin with a rally marking the inaugural ceremony.
Other events include cycling and literary recognition programmes, school-level sports competitions, folk duet performances, an investment seminar on the final day, a tug-of-war competition and the distribution of appreciation letters and certificates.
The main organising committee shared that the musical and cultural programmes will be held every evening from 5 pm to 10 pm during the festival.
Additionally, health-related activities and sanitation awareness programmes will be conducted free of cost throughout the festival.
