Chitwan, Dec 31: Former Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said that the Bharatpur Metropolitan City has achieved a balanced development on all sectors.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of Bharatpur Visit Year 2024 and National Food Festival 2081 BS at Meghauli of Bharatpur on Tuesday, he said the Bharatpur Metropolitan City has achieved development in all areas by dissecting the wrong narratives of underdevelopment and capacity of the local government to develop itself.
Prachanda said that a good example has been set in Bharatpur on development as it has established the fact that much can be done if the leadership worked honestly and if the leadership remained honest to the development needs and people's aspirations.
He added that all local levels across the country could emulate the development practice from the Bharatpur Metropolitan City.
The former prime minister was of the view that the leadership should work on infrastructure development and development of constructive programmes and the Bharatpur Metropolitan City has led the initiatives.
Likewise, Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City Renu Dahal said the city is being developed as a safe city to develop Bhartpur and Meghauli through tourism.
Saying that construction of the road network was almost over in the city, Mayor Dahal stated that any part of Bharatpur city could be travelled in 30 minutes due to accessible road network.
She shared that the major priority of the city now is construction of a bridge at Golaghat, which she said was of more crucial than the operation of Meghauli airport.
Executive Vice-Chairman of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Kamal Prasad Sapkota, former minister of Bagmati Province Milan Babu Shrestha, Deputy Mayor of Bharatpur Chitrasen Adhikari, former member of Bagmati Province Assembly and advisor of the Food Festival Krishna Bhurtel, Chief District Officer of Chitwan Prakash Poudel, Chairman of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality Dan Bahadur Gurung, Chairman of Chitwan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Suman Kumar Shrestha and other speakers expressed their views at the event calling for collaboration among all sides for tourism and other development efforts of Chitwan.(RSS)
