By Arjun Kafle, Syangja, Dec 25: Arjun Chaupari Rural Municipality has made it mandatory that only a parent of a student studying in the school can be the chair of the School Management Committee.
The
16th assembly of the Rural Municipality held on Tuesday made the
provision as per Article 221, Schedule 8 (8) of the Constitution and in
accordance with Section 102 of the Local Government Operations Act 2017.
Prakash
Tiwari, Chairman of Arjun Chaupari Rural Municipality, informed that provision
has also been made for non-parent to be SMC Chair in cases when no parent is
willing to hold the post.
The new legislation has been made brought forth to improve education quality in school.
Similarly,
the local legislation ensure free secondary education as enshrined in the Constitution
and prohibits taking fees from students under any title.
The
new law makes it mandatory for the school head teacher to take at least 16
periods a week and that no teacher will be considered eligible if he/she or his/her
family members have investments in the private schools in this rural
municipality.
