Constructive role of member-states of SAARC needed to make it active: PM Oli

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec 24: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has highlighted on the need of constructive role of the member-states of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to make it active.

The PM made it a point that as the current chair of the regional body, Nepal has been taking initiating to enliven SAARC.

PM Oli said this during a courtesy call on him by Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Abrar H. Hashmi.

During the meeting, the discussion dwelt on issues of bilateral relations between Nepal and Pakistan and on boosting cooperation on issues including trade, tourism, agriculture, renewable energy, disaster management, education and culture, according to the PM's secretariat.

On the occasion, Ambassador Hashmi shared that Pakistan was ready to host SAARC Summit and willing to increase cooperation with Nepal on various issues and areas in the days to come.
