By Nagendra Kumar Karna,Mohattari, Dec. 24: The District Administration Office, Land Revenue Office and other government offices in Jaleshwor, the headquarters of Mahottari district, remained closed on Sunday.
The operations of these offices were disrupted due to the lack of electricity and internet services. For the past three days, internet services have been interrupted in various areas due to the ongoing upgrade and maintenance of electricity and internet infrastructure in Jaleshwor.
Consequently, office operations have ceased due to the lack of electricity and internet.
The road from Khaira Chowk to Durga Chowk, Zero Mile and from Durga Chowk to Budhijib Chowk in Jaleshwor is currently undergoing upgradation along with the upgradation of electricity and internet services. Most of the district's offices are located in this area.
Upendra Neupane, the Assistant Chief District Officer at the District Administration Office in Mahottari, said that internet-based services, including citizenship issuance, passport applications, and national identity cards, have been affected by the disruptions in electricity and internet.
In response to frequent accidents caused by hanging wires, Jaleshwor Municipality has launched a campaign to remove unnecessary wires in coordination with the concerned agencies, including the Nepal Electricity Authority.
Under the campaign, unnecessary wires in the pole in Jaleshwor are now being removed.
Suresh Sah Sonar, Mayor of Jaleshwor Municipality, said that the campaign was initiated as the poles have become unstable due to the accumulation of old wires.
He added, “The indiscriminately hanging wires in Jaleshwor have caused fires in some areas, obstructed the movement of vehicles and negatively impacted the city's aesthetic appeal.” As a result of this campaign, electricity and internet services in Jaleshwor have been interrupted.
