Kathmandu, Dec 23: Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut has shared that Government Attorney Office is the backbone of the criminal justice system.
At a programme organized here on Monday on the occasion of 74th Establishment Day of the Attorney General, Chief Justice Raut pointed out the need of developing capacity and professionalism of prosecutors to make criminal justice administration effective.
He mentioned, "Capability, impartiality, professionalism and accountability of associated organisations and bodies is indispensable for effectiveness and credibility of criminal justice system."
He made aware for further activeness not to let occur mistakes and weaknesses in performance delivered from the government and legal provisions in decisions as Attorney General has to play the role of chief legal advisor of the government of Nepal.
Similarly, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ajay Chaurasiya, said the government was always ready to amend laws and to correct weaknesses to provide justice to the people in easy and smooth manner.
Likewise, Chairperson of Public Service Commission, Madhav Prasad Regmi, President of Nepal Bar Association, Gopal Krishna Ghimire and former Attorney General Dr Din Mani Pokharel, stressed on proper investigation and prosecution to improve criminal justice system.
Attorney General Ramesh Badal shared that preparations were underway to make laws in order to resolve practical problems seen in criminal justice system and continuously involving to improve overall sides of Government Attorney Office.
On the occasion, Joint Attorney General Surya Raj Dahal as well as other 10 people from different District Attorney Office were awarded while former Attorney General Pokharel, former Deputy Attorney Generals—Padam Prasad Pandey and Bishwo Raj Koirala were honoured.(RSS)
