Kathmandu, Dec 23: The Nepal-Egypt Cultural Festival was organized in Cairo on Sunday with the participation of children studying in different schools.
The festival was hosted by the
Nepali Embassy in Cairo in cahoots with Egypt Supreme Cultural Council and the
National Children's Culture Centre.
Egyptian children participating in
the school-level art competition held at the Children's Park in Sayyida Zainab
Cairo, depicted Nepal's diverse natural, social and cultural heritage through
paintings and wood work.
According to the Embassy, the
children participating in the competition created pictures of Pashupatinath,
Swayambhunath, Bouddhanath, Taleju Bhawani, Himal, Buddha, Kumari etc.
depicting Nepal's art, culture, history, natural heritage and life.
An exhibition and workshop on Nepal
was also organized on the occasion. About 100 Egyptian students studying in
different schools of Cairo participated in the competition.
Ambassador of Nepal to Egypt Sushil
Kumar Lamsal, Secretary General of Supreme Cultural Council of Egypt Prof. Dr.
Ashraf Ajazi and Chief of Egypt National Children's Culture Centre Ahmed Abdel
Alim jointly inaugurated the event.
On the occasion, Ambassador Lamsal
said that the programme has helped provide information about Nepal's cultural
and natural uniqueness and Nepal-Egypt relations among the Egyptian
children.
Cultural Council General Secretary
Ajaji and National Children's Culture Centre Chief Alim lauded the creative art
of the participating students and expressed the belief that such programmes
would continue in the days to come.
On the occasion, Ambassador Lamsal
handed over medals and certificates of appreciation to the students who secured
the tenth position in the competition. The event featured Egyptian dance.
On the occasion, a cultural
programme including Egyptian dance along with exhibition of Nepali artwork and
handicrafts were held. (RSS)
