90-year-old woman donates social security allowance to old-age home

By Amar Raj Naharki,Tanahun, Dec. 14: Bal Kumari Pantha, 90, of Kamalbari in Bayas Municipality-12, remains actively engaged in social work despite her old age. She has supported various social causes using her old-age allowance and has donated three annas of land for the construction of a public building.

Recently, Pantha donated a sum to the senior citizens at the Ved Vyas Senior Citizen Ashram in Chapaghat, Byas Municipality-5, using funds from her old-age allowance.

Nirmala Malla, the Secretary of the Ashram, mentioned that Pantha had donated Rs 2,600 in cash and food grains for a month's supply. Malla noted, "Pantha sets an example that age is no barrier to social work. The elderly lady had recently visited the ashram and made the generous donation."

Narayan Prasad Adhikari, Headmaster of Siddheshwori Secondary School in Kamalbari, also praised Pantha’s contributions to the local community. He said that Pantha has been actively involved in local charitable initiatives, including donating to the school, constructing rest houses, and supporting temple-building efforts.

Additionally, Pantha donated three annas of land for the construction of a building near her home. She shared that her family has been supportive of her charitable activities, making it easier for her to focus on giving back to the community.
