Kathmandu, Dec 12: The Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers has sent a communiqué to stakeholders not to implement the Supreme Court's decision to establish an additional 20-meter border on the right and left banks of the Bagmati River and its tributaries.
Last December, the Supreme Court had decided that structures cannot be built within 30 meters of Bagmati and its tributaries in Kathmandu Valley. A statement released today by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers says that correspondence has been sent to government offices, local levels and banks and financial institutions in Kathmandu Valley not to implement the decision immediately.
The Supreme Court has granted permission for a review of the review petition registered by the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers against the said decision. It has asked all concerned to postpone the implementation of the decision to establish a 20-meter limit until the review petition is finalised.(RSS)
