Kathmandu, Dec 3: The Embassy of Nepal, Muscat has organized a Trainer’s Training Programme for Social Security Enrolment and Regularization Services, Passport and Consular Services at Nepal House in Muscat.
During the event organized on Monday, Ambassador Aryal elaborated about the Social Security Fund (SSF), initiatives taken by the Government of Nepal and importance of SSF.
He highlighted about the relevance of the Trainer’s Training to educate Nepali workers in Oman who could further assist other Nepalis in the process of enrolment and regularization of social security. During the event, queries raised by the participants related to SSF were addressed by Mr. Bibek Panthee, Deputy Executive Director, SSF, the Embassy of Nepal, Muscat stated in a press release.
Ms. Radhika Niraula, Assistant Director and Mr. Rajesh Chapagain, IT officer shared the information and trained the participants about SSF. Mr. Bishesh Kumar Sah, Second Secretary, explained about Passport and Consular Services and showcased the passport application. Ambassador Aryal handed over a Training certificate to the participants.
The Embassy organized the first-ever camp on the social security enrolment and regularization services and Consular and Labour Awareness on 29 November 2024. Similarly, the Embassy conducted a SSF and Labour Awareness programme in Sohar, Oman on 30 November 2024. Both events were graced with encouraging participation from the Nepali community members in Oman. The participants expressed happiness and also requested the Embassy to continue such services and to provide work permits from the Embassy itself.
The Embassy had discovered that most of the Nepali workers were unaware of the Social Security scheme and its relevance. Generally, the Nepali workers get enrolled in the SSF at the time of getting Labour Approval in Nepal, but they don’t continue with the scheme. Hence the Embassy took the initiative to organize events with the support of SSF team to educate about SSF, enrol in the system for left-out Nepalis and regularize the workers in the system.
A three-member team from SSF comprising Mr. Bibek Panthee, Deputy Executive Director, Ms. Radhika Niraula, Assistant Director and Mr. Rajesh Chapagain, IT officer, is visiting Oman for the abovementioned events.(RSS)
