Reconstruction of Sano Gaucharan Stadium resumes

Kathmandu, Nov 28: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has resumed the reconstruction of the Sano Gaucharan Stadium.

Deputy Mayor of KMC Sunita Dangol laid the foundation stone of reconstruction work in effect from Thursday.

Shubh Construction got the responsibility of reconstruction by accepting a deal to make a stadium at an investment of Rs 188,674,827 rupees from the bid called for the work estimated at Rs 229,593,999.

Laying the foundation stone of the stadium reconstruction, Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol said that KMC has increased investment in sports infrastructure.

She said, "Three components that is development of physical infrastructure needs to be accompanied by economic and social development for balanced development. In this process, we are going to rebuild the stadium as part of the program to take sports forward with the dimensions of development."


Saying that the program has started to produce athletes from the school level, she hoped that this effort would help to produce a good player who can make the national identity well-known. 

Birendra Prajapati of KMC-5 said that the reconstruction of the stadium will take local development to new heights.


He said, " We are reviving the original game at each ward and squares. An organized football ground will be built here. We are preparing to build infrastructure for basketball, table tennis, badminton, and futsal on an area of about 5 ropani of land."
