By Our Correspondent,Hile, Nov. 27: The unique Lungdhang Cave, located in the dense forest of Okmalung in Dhankuta Municipality -1, remains largely overlooked.
Carved into a massive rock nearly 100 metres tall, this seven-storey cave is a natural wonder. The cave stretches around 30 metres in length, allowing entry from one side and exit from another. Upon passing through the narrow entrance, visitors find themselves in a spacious interior.
It takes about 16 minutes to traverse the cave from the northern entrance to the southern exit. Inside, the natural rock formations offer mesmerising views. Visitors can also spot clusters of bats hanging from the ceilings.
From the first level, one can observe the levels both above and below. To ease access for visitors, iron ladders have been installed in some challenging sections of the cave, said local Indra Thapa.
Despite its potential and available infrastructure, the cave has been overshadowed due to a lack of promotion. Located roughly 4 kilometres east of the tourist hub Hile in Dhankuta, Lungdhang Cave can be reached via a gravelled road. A suspension bridge and pedestrian paths lead to the cave, where significant infrastructure development has been undertaken, according to local Arjun Charahang.
Around 500 metres from the cave lies a 50-metre-high waterfall. The waterfall area has also seen infrastructural improvements, including a pool where water from the waterfall is collected, allowing visitors to swim.
The path to the cave and waterfall features a colourful suspension bridge, adding to the charm of the journey.
