By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 25: Nepal Academy of Fine Arts organised an art dialogue with veteran artist Shashi Bikram Shah at the Academy on Sunday.
Shah, who has been in the Nepali art field for over five decades, is regarded as a preeminent artist of Nepal.
Speaking at the programme artist Shah shared his artistic journey along with various intriguing anecdotes associated with his long art journey.
He recalled the time when his artworks were exhibited for the first time at the Tate Museum in the UK, describing it as a moment of pride for Nepali artists.
The 85-year-old artist also shared his experiences teaching and travelling to countries like India and Japan in the programme.
Chancellor of the Academy, Naradmani Hartamchhali, said that such programmes would inspire artists and contribute to the transmission of art across generations.
He added that the programme was organised to honour artist Shah.
Sanjay Bantawa Rai, head of the Academy’s Contemporary Painting Department, expressed his happiness at hosting an event centred on veteran artist Shah. He added that the Academy was committed to honouring senior artists.
Similarly, former Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, Kedar Bhakta Mathema, former member-secretary of the Academy Bipin Ghimire, Siddhartha Art Gallery Chairperson Sangeeta Thapa, veteran artists Krishna Manandhar, and Baikuntha Shrestha, among others, shared their thoughts and memories about Shah during the programme.
