Special category identity cards to 72 film workers

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 21: Nepal Film Development Board (FDB) awarded special category identity cards to 72 film workers during a programme held at the board on Wednesday. 

The cards were distributed by Information, Communication, and Information Technology Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung and  Secretary of the Ministry Radhika Aryal amid a programme. 

A special selection committee chose the recipients from among 204 film workers who had applied for the identity cards, it was informed in the programme.  

The committee was coordinated by Film Development Board member Raju Khatri Chhetri, with Khetulal Budhathoki serving as the coordinator for a period.

The identity cards were granted to filmmakers, directors, actors, producers, and technicians. Among the recipients, actor Ramchandra Adhikari was also provided with a cheque for drug treatment insurance.

In the meantime, a screenplay gallery was also inaugurated. 

During the event, screenplays for films such as Boksi Ko Ghar, Nango Gaun, Chhakka Panja 5, Chiso Manchhe, Dui Numbari, and Antaral were handed over to Minister Gurung by filmmakers Keki Adhikari, Dipendra Lama, Dipashree Niraula, Dipendra K. Khanal, Kiran Nepali and Deepa Basnet. 

Speaking at the programme, Minister Gurung expressed his readiness to work tirelessly, even 24 hours a day, to support the development of the film sector.

 Dinesh DC, Chairman of the Film Development Board, announced plans to preserve the screenplays of all Nepali films in a museum. 

He also highlighted efforts to make cinema halls across the country more inclusive by making them women-friendly and wheelchair-accessible.
