Minister Lekhak urges for dignified treatment to Nepali at border

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov. 18: A delegation led by Amrit Mohan Prasad, Director General of India’s Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) called on Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak.

During the meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar on Sunday, they discussed the harmonious relationship maintained between the Armed Police Force of Nepal (APF) and the SSB along the Nepal-India border. 

On the occasion, Minister Lekhak emphasised the need for cooperation in controlling illegal drug trafficking, human trafficking and other criminal activities in the border areas. 

He urged both sides to work together to strengthen peace, security, and crime prevention without causing any inconvenience to the general public.

Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadee, APF Chief Inspector General Raju Aryal and SSB Director General Amrit Mohan Prasad were present at the meeting. 

Minister Lekhak highlighted the importance of ensuring that citizens travelling across the Nepal-India border are treated with respect and dignity.

“Nepal and India share a relationship that spans centuries,” Minister Lekhak remarked, adding, “I am confident that the operations conducted by the border security forces will further strengthen the bond between the two countries.”

The high-level SSB delegation, including senior officials, visited Kathmandu to participate in the annual coordination meeting between the Armed Police Force of Nepal and the Sashastra Seema Bal.
