Flood victims of Rajdevi receive relief materials

By Sanjay Kumar Mishra,Gaur, Nov. 18: Various donor organisations have distributed relief materials to 1,354 flood victims in Rajdevi Municipality, Rautahat district. Several people in the municipality were affected after an embankment of the Bagmati River at Katarban burst because of the heavy rainfall on September 27 and 28.  About 6,555 houses were damaged by the flood of the Bagmati.

Various donor organisations have provided relief to the affected families, according to Pralab Kayastha, Chief Administrative Officer of Rajdevi Municipality.

He said that relief was distributed to 1,354 flood victims, Of them, 780 persons got relief from Good Neighbour Nepal Pokhara, 250 from UNICEF, 90 from Bagmati Service Society, 159 from Sathi Nepal and 300 from Chhaya Nepal.

Good Neighbour Nepal Pokhara distributed food, tarpaulins and sanitation kits to 62 pregnant women and new mothers in Ward No. 5. 

Likewise, 341 women in Ward No. 6, 209 women in Ward No. 9, 53 pregnant women in Ward No. 1 and 119 women in Ward No. 9 also received relief materials from the same organisation.   

Sathi Nepal distributed food grains to 84 people of Ward No. 3 and 75 people of Ward No. 7. 

Bagmati Service Society distributed relief worth Rs. 20,000 each to 90 people and UNICEF distributed sanitation kits to 250 persons, said Kayastha. 

Similarly, Chhaya Nepal distributed food and sanitation kits to 217 flood victims of Ward No. 8 and 83 victims of Ward No. 6.
