By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Nov.13: Two different art exhibitions are being simultaneously showcased at the Nepal Art Council in Kathmandu.
One exhibition titled ‘Artists-Four’ contains the artworks of four Nepali artists while another one called ‘In Memory of Yumi Sano’ features the drawings and paintings of the late Japanese fine artist Sumi Sano.
Both exhibitions started on November 9 and will conclude on November 13. The Artists-Four exhibition is supported by the E-Arts Nepal and ART Space of Nepal.
The Nepali artists’ exhibition features the finest paintings of Erina Tamrakar, Shailee Rana Bista, Sheila Rajbhandary and Bishal Maharjan.
Tamrakar’s paintings bridge tradition and modernity, creating compelling visual dialogues that challenge and inspire while Bista’s artworks are a testament to the enduring beauty of her heritage.
Likewise, Rajbhandary's art offers a meditative reflection on the cultural traditions and timeless beauty of her homeland while Maharjan’s art reflects a deep reverence for his heritage, offering a fresh interpretation of Nepali life.
Tamrakar leads the Nepali artists’ group exhibition and it is a unique opportunity for visual art lovers to engage with contemporary arts that reflect the evolving identities and voices of Nepal’s artists.
The art exhibition of Japanese artist Yumi Sano is supported by E-Arts Nepal, Yumi Sano Studio and ART Space of Nepal.
Born in 1975 in Nagata-ku, Kobe City of Japan, Yumi stayed in Nepal as an international volunteer between 1996 and 1999. A road accident took her life while she was travelling in Chitwan.
During her stay in Nepal, her artworks took on new life, drawing inspiration from the vibrant colours and landscapes of Patan and the warmth of the people.
Each artwork showcased in her exhibition tells a story of resilience, cultural exploration and boundless creativity.
Tamrakar said that despite her untimely demise, her legacy endures through her art.
