Kathmandu, Nov 10: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, has proposed to form a special task force to find solutions to the long-standing issues of sugarcane farmers and sugar industries.
During his meeting with office-bearers from the Nepal Sugar Mills Industries Association at his office today, the Minister proposed formation of a task force including the participation of stakeholders concerned.
He proposed to constitute a special task force to be led by a joint secretary at the Ministry and including the representatives from sugar industries, sugarcane farmers, sugar suppliers and the National Salt Trading Corporation.
The delegation led by Association President Shashikant Agrawal demanded the government control the smuggling of sugar from India and provide sugarcane farmers with hybrid seeds of crop.(RSS)
