The Chhath festival was observed in the mountainous district of Myagdi

Myagdi, Nov. 7: The Chhath festival was observed in the mountainous district of Myagdi by worshipping and making offerings to the setting sun today.

The folks of Tarai region and the Indian nationals living in Myagdi marked the festival.     

Those observing the Chhath festival offered worship and Argha by visiting the bank of Kaligandaki River in Beni Municipality-8 and making offerings to the setting sun.     

The devotees shall offer Argha to the rising sun tomorrow morning.     

The festival is dedicated to the Sun God, with offerings made to the rising and setting sun, which is observed for four days, from Kartik Shukla Chaturthi to Kartik Shukla Saptami as per the lunar calendar has established the values of religious and social harmony.     

The ritual of Chhath Parba includes taking a holy bath, fasting, standing and worshiping the sun for a long time and offering Prasad and Argha to the ‘rising and setting Sun'.     

The members of the other communities in Beni have extended their best wishes to those marking the Chhath festival from Mithila region.(RSS)
