By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct.30: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah has urged the government to hand over the Singha Durbar Vaidya Khana to KMC if the government is not able to operate it properly.
Addressing the 30th-anniversary celebration of Singha
Durbar Vaidya Khana on Wednesday, Mayor Shah said that the government needs to
take full responsibility for running Singha Durbar Vaidya Khana smoothly.
Saying that he ponders how the institution that
sells can go on loss, the KMC Mayor said that the economy can be supported by
increasing the production of medicine.
He said that the government should take the
responsibility of running Singha Darbar Vaidyakhana completely. He said that
the sales cannot go to a loss and the economy can be supported by increasing
the production of medicine.
Mayor Shah said, "The vision of the Ministry is the same, there is no difference. Everything has gone on loss. We need to
elevate all these institutions. Bir Hospital needs to be uplifted just like Singha
Durbar Vaidya Khana should. Medicine needs to be produced. How can the institution
which produces medicine go on loss? I ponder how it can go on loss."
He said, "If the government cannot operate loss-making Singha Durbar Vaidya Khana then it should be handed over to KMC. KMC
will surely operate it smoothly."
He said that one needs to observe Singha Durbar
Vaidya Khana to know why the country has dashed.
Mayor Shah said that 90 percent of government industries are leased and sold. He said that government industries are ruined under the influence and pressure of private organizations.
