By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 25: The government has decided to launch a cleanliness campaign in all government offices across the country on Friday to control dengue.
Upon the proposal of the Ministry of Health and Population, a Cabinet meeting held on Thursday evening decided to launch dengue-cleanliness campaign for 10 minutes in all government offices.
Stagnant water in store, garages and unoccupied places where the breeding of mosquitoes that spread dengue will be cleaned.
Considering the increasing cases of dengue infection, the Ministry of Health made this proposal, which the Cabinet has approved, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung told the media after the Cabinet meeting.
It has been decided that all government offices will carry out a 10-minute cleanliness campaign starting at 10:00 am on Friday, said Minister Gurung.
Minister Gurung said the campaign will focus on draining stagnant water in scrap materials.
Dengue is a viral infection transmitted after bite by female mosquitoes. Dengue-spreading mosquitoes lay eggs in stagnant water. Experts have been advising that even small amounts of stagnant water can provide a breeding ground for mosquitoes, so such water should not be allowed to accumulate.
Following the Ministry of Health’s proposal to launch such a campaign, the effort will begin from government offices, he said.
Similarly, the Cabinet meeting has decided to promote some army officers as per the proposal tabled by the Ministry of Defence.
