Oct 20: The government has decided to reform the recommendation committee for
appointing office bearers of the commission for investigation of enforced disappearance
(CIED) and the truth and reconciliation commission (TRC).
Unveiling the decisions of the Council of
Ministers, Prithvi Subba Gurung, Government spokesperson and Minister for Communication
and Information Technology, today said that the 5-member recommendation
committee will be headed by former chief justice Om Prakash Mishra as the
Chairman.
The members
of the Committee will be the Chairperson or representative assigned by him/her
of the National Human Rights Commission. Similarly, from among the human rights
activist, law expert, psychologist, juridical expert, sociologist, conflict
expert, women rights activist or individuals involved in the peace process,
Khamba Bahadur Khati, former attorney general, Arjun Kumar Karki and Stela
Tamang have been named as the members of the Committee.
A few days
ago, a meeting of the three major parties had decided to give a full shape to
the recommendation or search committee.
