Kumakh Hill's Fair in Salyan (Photo Feature)

By Prateek Ichchuk Sharma, Salyan, Oct.18: Kumakh is a natural and religious destination for tourists and one can observe a fair on the day of Kojagrat Purnima (full moon day). Kumakh which can be reached in eight hours on foot from the district headquarters of Salyan, Khalanga, is a tourist spot that lies 2,520 meters above sea level. 

The Siddha temple lies at the mountaintop between the confluence of Kumakh Rural Municipality and Siddha Kumakh. Dozens of caves are located at different places in the mountains which are considered major attractions for tourists. Among all other caves, Siddha Cave in Kumakh is extraordinarily beautiful. 

In addition to viewing the cave, one can worship in the cave. 

The priest of the temple Pujari Lal Bahadur Dangi (Juju) said that devotees of religious faith worship at the Siddha temple on the days of Chaturdashi and Kojagrat Purnima. 

15 districts can be observed from the top of Kumakh.

A local Dilli Raj Jaishi said that rocky hills including Sisne, Dhaulagiri, Chakhura Kumakh Hill, Chakhure Hill, Digre, Bhagwati Temple, most of the nearby villages, various terrains of Terai, can be observed from the Kumakh Hill. 

On the day of the Kojagrat Purnima, a fair is held on the plain terrain, one kilometre below the Siddha temple, towards Jimali in Kumakh. Various traditional dances, such as Bangadi, Tappa, Sorthi, Passeri, Dohori, and Serenge, which reflect the local folk culture of nearby villages, are performed during the fair.
