Multiple Nepali films ahead of Dashain

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 10: Festivals such as Dashain and Tihar are seen as prime occasions for film release. Filmmakers anticipate that the festive atmosphere will put audiences in a joyful mood, making them more inclined to visit the cinemas. 

Therefore, Nepali filmmakers choose to release their films during the Dashain festival. Continuing this tradition, this year too, several big-brand films and those featuring popular artists are set to be released on the same date.

On October 10, marking the occasion of Phulpati Day, three films are scheduled to be released simultaneously across the country.

The fifth instalment of Deepak Raj Giri and Deepa Shree Niraula’s most anticipated film, Chhakka Panja 5, comedian Jitu Nepal starrer Jwai Saab, and 12 Gaun by actor Biraj Bhatt will all release on the same day.

Chhakka Panja 5, directed by Deepa Shree Niraula, features a story and screenplay written by Deepak Raj Giri. The dialogue was co-written by Kedar Ghimire ‘Magnebuddha’, Dilip Tamang, and Giri himself. 

This time, the character of ‘Raja’ continues to play a central role in the film, which features performances by Giri, Kedar Ghimire, Barsha Siwakoti, Rajaram Paudel, Ramesh Budhathoki, Prakash Ghimire, Narendra Thapa, Uttam KC, Brajesh Khanal, Hiuwala Gautam, Nabin Shrestha, Daman Rupakheti, Lokendra Lekhak, and Nirmal Sharma.

Likewise, Jwai Saab features a romantic storyline between Jitu Nepal and Niti Shah, alongside actors such as Buddhi Tamang, Himesh Pant, Kamalmani Nepal, Prakash Ghimire, Shishir Bangdel, Ramesh Budhathoki, and Kavita Ale. 

Directed by Basanta Niraula, Jwai Saab is written by Shankar Dhital.

Another Nepali film, 12 Gaun, directed and written by Biraj Bhatt, is also set to be released this Thursday. The fight scenes in 12 Gaun were directed by Indian fight master Stunt Silva, who has worked on numerous Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films. Silva was assisted by Nepali fight director Shankar Maharjan.

In 12 Gaun, Biraj’s son, Samir Bhatt, makes his debut as a lead actor. The film features actors such as Biraj Bhatt, Sonu Chandrapal, Deeya Maskey, Murali Dhar, Sanisha Bhattarai, Naren Khadka, Nancy Khadka, Stunt Silva, Santosh Sarkar, Kanij Koirala, Suleman Shankar 'IKU', Krishna Bhatt, and others. 

The film was shot by Mahesh Poudel and Raju Lama, with editing by Bhupendra Adhikari. The film is produced by Biraj Bhatt Productions and Saraswati Bhatt.

Additionally, the film Behuli from Meghauli was released across the country last Thursday, marking the special occasion of Ghatasthapana.

Starring Nischal Basnet and Swastima Khadka in lead roles, the film features actors such as Basundhara Bhusal, Vijay Baral, Simran Khadka, Lokendra Lekhak, Rakshya Thapa, and Siru Bista.
