By Our Correspondent,Nawalpur, Oct. 7: The Narayangadh-Butwal road section of the East-West Highway which caved in at Daunne after the recent torrential rainfall has come into full operation.

According to Nawalpur Police, the road that caved in at the Khursani River in Bardghat Municipality-4 of Nawalparasi (West) was repaired and brought into full operation from 11:40 am on Sunday.

According to the police, after the road is fully operational, the vehicles that have been stuck for a long time are being allowed to pass. The road was washed away on September 30 following continuous rainfall on September 28 and 29.

The road was completely closed for one night and one day for maintenance but the road caved in again when the repair work was in progress.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Bed Bahadur Paudel of District Police Office Nawalpur informed that a team from the Department of Roads and China State Engineering Corporation Pvt. Ltd. continuously worked to restore the damaged road.

However, the risk of disruption is still there. Skim Shrestha, Chief District Officer of Nawalparasi (West), has said that if the road was not damaged again, it would be easy to travel.  “But the risk of the road cave-in is still there,” he said.

Passengers were suffering because there was no place for diversion in the area.
