By Gajendra Gurung, Khajura, Oct.4: The man-eating leopard that killed around three-year-old daughter of Birendra Pun of Simalghari in Khajura Rural Municipality-6, Banke, has been brought under control on Friday morning.
According to the Senior Forest Officer of the Division Forest Office, Banke, Raj Bahadur Chaudhary, the man-eating leopard was taken control on Friday morning.
Three-year-old Laxmi Pun went suddenly missing while playing in the front yard of her house on the night of September 15. The body in the decapitated was found on in the Gijara Community Forest in Banke, a one-kilometer distance from her house, on September 17.
After suspecting that the leopard might have taken the life of a toddler, the forest division office started the search operation for the horror-wreaking leopard on September 17 by installing three cages and five CCTV cameras.
He said, "We installed three iron cages and five CCTV cameras in different places of the forest to catch the leopard on September 17. The leopard has finally been captured with immense effort after 18 days."
Senior forest officer Chaudhary said that one goat was kept in each cage to lure the leopard. The leopard was finally trapped and taken under control in a cage where the goat was kept for the lure.
