Minister Khadka and Norwegian Ambassador Dramdal meet

Kathmandu, Oct 1: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Dipak Khadka, and Ambassador of Norway to Nepal, Torun Dramdal held a meeting today.     

On the occasion, they discussed the matters of Nepal-Norway relations and mutual concern and interest.     

Minister Khadka shared that Norway is the important development partner of Nepal and the Government of Norway has been providing support in energy sector since more than 60 years.     

Stating that contribution of Norwegian government to achieve goals of sustainable energy and economic growth and to the power production was crucial, he lauded the significant role of the Government of Norway in power transmission and distribution of Nepal as well as to develop local specialty in civil, electronic and hydro mechanical sectors.     

Minister Khadka pointed out the need of expanding power production capacity as well as immediate reform in transmission line, sub-station and rural electrification while expecting support from Norway in such programme, said Minister Khadka's Private Secretariat.     

Similarly, Ambassador Dramdal said there would always be the support and cooperation of Norwegian government in development of Nepal's hydropower sector.     

The Norwegian government has been providing scholarship to Nepali students pursuing higher education related to hydropower in Norway, he mentioned, adding the government of Norway would provide support in development of transmission line in days to come.(RSS)
