'Massive public awareness against cancer essential'

Kathmandu, Sept 17: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Dipak Khadka, said is essential to create massive public awareness against cancer.    


Inaugurating a programme organized on the 42nd anniversary of Cancer Relief Society here Monday, Minister Khadka said the number of people suffering from cancer was growing of late, so massive awareness in public is imperative. He praised the role played by the Society to create awareness against this fatal disease.    


The establishment and operation of Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital is significant achievement for providing treatment to the cancer patients from across the country, the Minister observed.    


On the occasion, Executive Chairman of Nepal Airlines Corporation, Yubraj Adhikari, hailed the contribution of Cancer Relief Society and showed readiness for working together against cancer.    


Society's Chairman Mahesh Shrestha demanded the government that it ensured convenient and accessible treatment of cancer, a lethal disease.    
The Society has been working continuously for four decades and making people informed against cancer.    


Nine oncologists were honoured on the occasion. Even a publication by the Society was released at the programme.  (RSS)
