Foreign Minister Dr Rana leaves for Canada

Kathmandu, Sept 16: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba has left for Canada on Monday evening to attend the Meeting of Women Foreign Ministers scheduled for 19 to 20 September in Toronto. 

According to the Minister's secretariat, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal and other senior officers from the Ministry were present at Tribhuvan International Airport to see her off. 

Co-hosted by the Governments of Canada and Jamaica, the two-day event will bring together women foreign ministers from over 15 countries. Minister Dr Rana will discuss a range of issues, including the challenges and the representation of women in public positions, leadership and governance. 

Following the meeting, she will leave for the United States to participate in the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 21, joining the Nepali delegation led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. 

During her stay in the United States, she will address various forums and participate in bilateral meetings. Subsequently, she will head to Doha, Qatar to lead the Nepali delegation in the Third Summit of Asia Cooperation Dialogue scheduled for October 2 and 3 where she will deliver an address. Dr Rana is scheduled to return home on October 4.
