Parbat, Sept. 13: The number of
dengue cases has increased sharply in Parbat district. The stakeholders have
argued that the cases of dengue fever increased in Parbat due to the lack of
precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
So far, 650 people have been
confirmed with dengue fever in this season in Parbat, Chief Medical
Superintendent of Parbat Hospital Dr Hemanta Bastola said. Of them, more than
500 cases are from the district headquarters in Kushma.
Dr Bastola said that the hospital,
which has 60 beds, is full of dengue patients at present.
A woman died of dengue fever in the
district this year.
However, the Chief of the Health
Section of Kushma Municipality, Yam Prasad Sharma, claimed that the number of
dengue patients taking bed rest at home without visiting the hospitals could be
much higher than the official records.
It is said that the white blood
cell count goes down in the critical cases of dengue. Most of the cases are
controlled through Cetamol tablet, doctors stated.
Most of dengue patients have
symptoms such as high fever, headache, body ache, loss of appetite, vomiting
and diarrhea.
Dengue was first detected in Nepal
in the year 2004 and the cases have increased since then.
The mosque-transmitted disease
which was mostly found in Terai-Madhes has also been increasingly detected in
mountainous cities. (RSS)
