Humanities Is An Endangered Stream

Humanities is a less prioritised stream because of its existing myth in society. The slighter probability of a secured future and fewer prospects of well-paying jobs are the utmost existing misconception among majority of people. As a disciple of this faculty and through exploring the wide areas of it I am certain that there is a higher chance of acquiring a financially rewarding profession including a reputable name and fame. 

Humanities is a city centered stream. In the context of Nepal, on the urban areas it can be found popularised to a smaller extent where very few educational institutes have included its course of study on the other hand it is still yet to be known in rural areas. Inadequate availability of colleges facilitated with academic education of humanities is resulting in attracting minority of student toward this subject. 

Apart from this, subject such as Science, Management, Nursing and Engineering are admired comparatively higher than Humanities due to which students interested to study in this field are not able to enroll in as per parent disagreement and desire for off spring to join popular course. There is aged concept of giving less value to student of humanities up to the point too. 

Consequently, fascinated individuals unwillingly apply for other fields leading lesser in number of scholars in this course of study. 'Humanities' term still remaining unfamiliar in modern society is even more miserable than decreasing students tutored in it. This is the outcome of ineffective promotional activities in schools and colleges. 

I am a proud Humanities scholar. I consider it to be the medium of experiencing own self and identity of mankind because of its vast sector of subject which includes Psychology, Journalism, History, Sociology, Political Science, Law, Optional English to explore. In the process of schooling this stream it assists in developing critical thinking, rational thinking, creativity, reasoning, questioning and compassion. Questions lead to new creations. 

Humanities encompasses the ability to understand the world through questioning contributing to novel discoveries. The especial objective of the Humanities is designed for understanding what we are, definition of being human, correlation with other, and most vitally the history till the date. Humanities is reflection of the society. 

It shapes the society along with exceptional way of viewing it. The study of Humanities cannot be restricted within the mere pages of book but has application in societal affairs and topic related to human culture. Humanities appreciates human values giving importance to the unique ability of individuals together with expressing human spirit challenging to think abstractly.

As Humanities is the identity of mankind there is no other path than preserving it from extinction. The best way to protect it is by protecting from where it exists. Humanities exists from educational institutes; thus, they must include its education in schooling. The belief which misleads concept of Humanities in the society must be eradicated by spreading the importance of it which will aid to protect the existence of humanities.
