Bedkot (Kanchanpur), Sept 11: Risk of Mpox infection has increased due to lack of precautions at Gaddachouki, the western border point of the country.
Although one person has recently been confirmed to be infected with MPox in neighbouring India, no precautions have been taken at the border point yet.
Around 300 people return home from India through Gaddachouki border every day. The risk of infection has increased due to the lack of general screening of India returnees.
Screening for Corona Virus, Dengue, HIV/AIDS and other diseases are carried out at the 'Health Desk' at Gaddachouki for those returning from India. Lakshmi Rimal Dhami, a lab technician working at the health desk, says that due to the lack of equipment, the examination of Mpox has not been started yet.
"We don't have the equipment. We have not received any training on Mpox", he said, "We keep a watchful eye on people who come with the symptoms that we knew from social sites."(RSS)
