Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali aspiration will be fulfilled by implementing fundamental rights: PM

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept.3: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the national aspiration of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali' will be fulfilled by absorbing the national and international commitments related to human rights and fundamental rights of the Constitution. 

Inaugurating a three-day international conference of human rights organizations in the Asia-Pacific region on gender inclusion organized by the National Human Rights Commission on Tuesday, PM Oli said that the constitution of Nepal has enshrined many questions of fundamental rights and the government is committed to complying with them word by word, and clarified that the caste system has been legally ended. 

Mentioning that at least 33 per cent of participation of women is ensured in all bodies at all three tiers of government by the Parliament even before the constitution was drafted, he said that this cannot be considered a small achievement. 

Presenting the example that Nepal has already got its first female President, Chief Justice, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Chief Secretary, he said that necessary facilitation is being made to increase the participation of women in all agencies of the nation. 

Stating that 20 per cent of citizens in Nepal are still below the absolute poverty line and without fulfilling the goal of poverty alleviation, it will not be possible to provide basic rights to all citizens, he said, "We will fully implement the essence and spirit of the fundamental rights of the constitution. We are committed to the implementation of international commitments and agreements. We will eliminate poverty in Nepal. We will fulfill the goal of a prosperous Nepal, a happy Nepali."
